Mike: Ok hi Dan

Dan: High er Mike

Mike: Hi.erm..you were telling me a little bit about erm how you like to travel and you had a er erm s quite interesting trips to Australia

Dan: I did that's right

Mike: and New Zealand. Can you tell me a little about those please?

Dan: I did, yes, when I was eighteen I took a GAP year decided that I wanted to er have a break from studying and went with an organisation called GAP and er was based at Nelson College for Boys at the top of the South Island New Zealand.

Mike: yep

Dan: Had an amazing time. I worked there. My first experience of teaching really....erm. and was involved with sports coaching, administration.erm helping mentor students...helping some students with special needs and.er that was a really great experience and obviously one of the pluses was the holidays. Got to travel round New Zealand a lot and went right up to the Bay of Islands in the North down to Queenstown in the South. and really loved it. and during that time I was able to travel to Australia.. down the East coast. go to Thailand and er definitely got the travel bug that's for sure.

Mike: Yeah, and what about erm..what would you say then of those countries that you visited what was for you the highlight of the trip when you the were just

Dan: When I was there

Mike: visiting as a touristy

Dan: One of the highlights was Sydney. I went with a couple of friends who I met when I was over there and England were playing cricket at the time

Mike: Oh, ok great

Dan: so we spent 5 days...it was a bit sad really..but we spent just five days watching cricket and

Mike: fantastic

Dan: Having a few drinks.er not all of them were non alcoholic

Mike: (laughing)

Dan: It was certainly a bit of fun

Mike: yeah

Dan: And er.yeah that was good fun and we were there for New Year's Eve as well so it was quite a spectacular fireworks show as well so..I enjoyed Australia but I think New Zealand's my favourite. The people in New Zealand were really warm and friendly. So it was a great experience. I've never done anything like it since..erm.but I certainly learned a lot about myself and that education was kind of where I wanted to head really

Mike: Yeah, yeah..er

Dan: I think one erm.. of the interesting things has been that, you know, my in laws are looking at doing a cruise there so I think my enthusiasm has has carried over to them that's for sure
