One is a policewoman interviewing the other woman about a theft that has taken place earlier that day. WPC: Before we start with the interview, would you like a cup of tea? Interviewee: No thank you. WPC: Okay. So can you give me a statement.take your time and tell me what you were doing at the time of the theft. Are you ready? Interviewee: Yes I'm ready. WPC: Right I'll just turn on the tape recorder. Okay.go ahead. Interviewee: Well I was just coming out of the market when it happened. WPC: Is this the top end of the market? Interviewee: Er.no it's the side entrance. You know the side by the car park? WPC: Ah yes. I know which one you mean. We'll check the CCTV sited near there. The incident may have been recorded. Had you been shopping in the market. Interviewee: Yes.er.before.er.I'd met a friend you know and we went to the Art Gallery you know and I was going to the bus station and I thought I'd come into the market and do some shopping you know to get some veg. WPC: So did you have a lot of shopping? Interviewee: No, not at all. I mean. in the end I didn't get any veg. A lot of it was a bit manky really. It didn't seem that fresh.er.so I just had one small bag, you know the bag that was pinched. WPC: When you came out of the market, did you see the man? Interviewee: Er no. Umm I think I was daydreaming really you know.miles away. I suppose he must have just been waiting, you know to the left of me. WPC: So did he jump out as soon as you came out of the market? Interviewee: No I walked for about a minute, I think and then he just seemed to appear from nowhere and snatched my bag. WPC: It must have been a shock. Were you hurt anywhere? Interviewee: No, just shocked. WPC: Do you feel okay now? Interviewee: Yeah just annoyed that I wasn't more careful, you know? WPC: You shouldn't be annoyed. It could happen to anyone. So the man who took your bag, what did he look like? Interviewee: Erm. I think he was, I'd say he was. in his thirties. He was medium height with, it looked like short, dark hair. WPC: Is that straight or curly hair? Interviewee: I don't know. He was wearing a cap. WPC: Okay. Can you remember anything else about him? Did he have facial hair? Did he have glasses? Interviewee: I was.I think he was.you know clean-shaven. I can't remember seeing glasses but you know it happened all so quickly. WPC: You said he was wearing a cap. Can you remember what colour or anything else about what he was wearing? Interviewee: Well I think the cap was blue or maybe black. Oh I definitely remember that he was wearing a black t-shirt, you know and trainers, you know. Definitely casual, casual clothes. WPC: Okay fine, and the bag that he took, what was that like? Interviewee: It was just a small.you know.black canvas shoulder bag. WPC: What did you have in it? Interviewee: Um.I had my purse.er.I didn't have much money with me, you know. Maybe I think a ten pound note and some coins. Um.oh my gosh, I forgot! I had my credit cards in there! WPC: Well he probably won't be able to use them without a PIN number but if I were you I'd phone and cancel them straight away. Interviewee: Okay. Can I get off now and phone the bank? WPC: Yes certainly, no problem and we'll keep you informed about anything that happens. We've got your number. Interviewee: Okay, yes, okay. Well listen, thank you very much for all your help. WPC: Okay and thank you for coming and I'm sorry that you had to have this ordeal. Interviewee: It's alright. It'll teach me to be more careful in the future. WPC: Okay. Interviewee: Bye-bye. WPC: Bye-bye. |
